“I want my music to make an impact in someone‘s life, like it has impacted mine; it’s helped me through all the hard times and given me hope… says Dane Schmidt of “...and then I turned seven... Hailing from Duluth, MN, Dane Schmidt brings to you emotional and heartwarming lyrics mixed with powerful and eye-opening music with his group, “…and then I turned seven…“ This four piece acoustic/punk/emo band was formed in 2003 by Dane as an acoustic solo project. He released “Broken Summer in August of 2003 not knowing what to expect. The results were nothing short of amazing. Dane started playing shows as “…and then I turned seven… to promote the new release. “Broken Summer CD’s were being sold left and right. After playing solo shows for a few months, Dane felt there was something missing. With his brother Jordan being a talented guitar player with solid vocals, Dane added him to the band. At the time Jordan was involved in a local punk band called “Class Act, but with the opportunity to join “…and then I turned seven… available, Jordan jumped at the chance. Their plan was to record a 5 song demo with all new songs to show the new side of the band, but the full lineup was still no complete. For bass they recruited long time friend Matt Marturano, who was also involved in “Class Act. Their last recruit was Ryan Waterhouse , a local guitar player in search of the right band. At last, the lineup was complete. “A New Start the EP, was released January 2004 with immediate public reaction. www.andtheniturnedseven.com was also launched in January of 2004 and was an immediate success. With over many shows and two successful CD releases under their belt, “…and then I turned seven… will be around for a long time proving to everyone that music isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.
